Wood Carver

Wood Carver

Micah McKinney has been chainsaw carving for about 5 years. He was introduced to it one weekend while visiting a friend in Texas. He started out carving a feather and was then challenged to carve a bear. Once he was finished with that, he had found a new hobby and he "was hooked"!

Before long he started carving more regularly. Last spring, he sold his house and moved to family land in Cass County to be able to carve full time. One perk of moving to family land is there are "lots of trees"!

The Lumberjack Festival is happy to have Micah with us this year. He will be bringing some of his pieces that he has carved and will have them for you to look at and for sale if you are interested. He will be doing his first show on Saturday morning, October 8 at 11:00 am.

Look for Micah to be set up outside next to the CAC Building! Bring your lawn chair and watch the whole show!

"I am excited to be coming to Springhill for the festival! I am happy to be given this opportunity!" ~~ Micah
